Ben and Jerry’s is still the Coldstone of the packaged ice cream world: brand-name low- quality actual ice cream that they stuff with garbage and chunks to cover it up and charge a premium. Every year or so I pick something up and it’s, “Nope, still crap.”

Kawartha Dairy is the best ice cream and I’ll respectfully disagree with anyone who says otherwise.

Much like pizza, even bad ice cream is still pretty damn good.

I’ve heard that sex is like pizza, too. Even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good.

I spent a few months while I lived in Boston eating very little else besides Phish Food. It took me years to try it again.
Yes, it’s still great.

I was going to say he was expressing a very ‘ Best Coast’ attitude.
Most everything is nowhere near the same recipes or ingredients it came to be known under. Food chemistry has ruined much.

Bassett s is pretty damn good too. Also, Yuengling - specifically their Black & Tan - Belgian chocolate and salted caramel just work so well together

If you’re able to get your hands on Tillamook ice cream, give it a whirl, I think you’ll be pleased.

I’ve never felt that their ice cream is bad, just that it’s not good enough to justify the price and not as good as stuff that costs a lot less.

Tillamook accounts for half of the ice cream section around these parts. Definitely my go-to for non sherbert ice cream

I don't like hard chunks in my ice cream so that discounts like 3/4 of their flavors

Tillamook, then.

I’ll pick it up if it’s on sale, but no matter how good an ice cream is I refuse to pay regular price. I will occasionally pick up some Talenti gelato, on sale of course, but part of the reason is to get the container - they’re great for leftovers, and make single-serving portioning easy.

Yes -- ice cream should be CREAMY

Go find a B&J flavor called “Chocolate Therapy” and try it. If that doesn’t convince you to like the brad nothing will.

Yes. Tillamook. Those mellow, cannabis-cud-chewing contented Oregon cows sling a high-butterfat confection.

Curious what you think is better packaged ice cream than B&J? While I don’t like all of their flavors (they appear to have hundreds of odd concoctions) , Choc Fudge Brownie and Brownie Batter Core are outstanding. And the Vanilla ice cream in Choc Chip Cookie Dough is pretty damn good. I won’t pay $5 for it, but on sale at $2.88 I’ll grab two.
If there are better national brands, I’m open to trying them.

I never pay full price for ice cream. Waiting for a sale helps keep me from buying too much ice cream anyway.

I like Tillamook much more than B&J’s; I think I like Hauuugawn Daaaaas (no idea how to spell it) mo re as well. Or I would prefer in ice cream bar, like a ice cream sandwich (with the cookies), strawberry shortcake bar, or Crunch bar.

Disagree on H agen Daz(?).....lifeless, bland and overpriced. Plain vanilla has good consistency, but the taste isn’t there for me.
I admit that a good ice cream sandwich, even store-brand, is one of the best things ever.
Will keep an eye out for Tillamook, I’ve never seen it in stores in the NY area.

Their sunflower butter based non-dairy flavors are some of the best of all the non-dairy options out there with regard to creaminess. Trader Joe's plain old soy-based vanilla is next.

I like B&J but absolutely hated that one. Probably the worst ice cream I’ve had. The Netflix and Chill one os really good, though.
